Janet Williams Named New GAP President

Andersen Tate & Carr, P.C. is pleased to announce that Janet Wilson Williams, RP® will serve as President of the Georgia Association of Paralegals (GAP) for a two year term beginning January 2019.   Ms. Williams has been employed at ATC for the past 13 years as paralegal to partner Michael J. Hay, Esq. and will continue in her position at ATC during this leadership.

Ms. Williams serves as an educator and mentor to paralegals of all levels throughout the United States and in the military. She often speaks on certification, regulation, and the paralegal profession at national conferences, paralegal associations, and schools. Ms. Williams currently focuses on participation in a national paralegal task force, establishment of Georgia professional paralegal credentials, and collaboration with leaders from other U.S. paralegal associations. She has also been the recipient of national and state awards, including 2016 NFPA Paralegal of the Year, 2014 NFPA Certification Ambassador of the Year, and 2017 GAP Paralegal of the Year.

Ms. Williams is the author of “My Journey to Becoming an RP,” published in the National Paralegal Reporter (February/March 2010) and was a featured speaker at the Institute for Paralegal Education presentation, “The Paralegal’s Role in the Real Estate Transaction in Georgia” (November 1999).  Most recently published were “Paralegal Think Tank” and “Musings from the Paralegal of the Year” in the NFPA Blog.  Ms. Williams has spent the last 28 years as a commercial real estate and finance paralegal.  She earned an advanced national paralegal certification in 2008 as a PACE Registered Paralegal and is a graduate of the ABA-approved paralegal program at The National Center for Paralegal Training, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, in 1993.  She also earned a certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of Georgia in 2013.
