Andersen, Tate & Carr, P.C. Paralegal, Janet Wilson Williams, Named 2016 Paralegal of the Year at NFPA National Convention

Janet Wilson Williams, RP® of Andersen, Tate & Carr, P.C. and the Georgia Association of Paralegals (GAP), has been named 2016 Paralegal of the Year by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) during its annual national convention in Burlington, Vermont last week. This award, one of NFPA’s highest honors, recognizes an individual member whose on-the-job achievements have contributed to the expansion of the paralegal profession, including contributions to his or her employer and colleagues and the paralegal profession in general.

Ms. Williams has been a paralegal for 26 years. She has been employed by Andersen, Tate & Carr, P.C. since 2006 as paralegal to

Partner, Michael J. Hay, Esq. in Commercial Real Estate and Finance. Mr. Hay greatly appreciates Ms. Williams’ hard work and dedication to the firm, describing her as an ambassador for the firm, and supports and acknowledges her commitment to the paralegal profession by mentoring, volunteerism, and enriching paralegal education.

Ms. Williams has invested in her paralegal career by graduating from an ABA-Approved paralegal program, receiving a Certificate in Human Resources Management, and earning a PACE Registered Paralegal advanced national certification. Since 2012, she has served as GAP’s Director of Paralegal Certification and was honored as NFPA Certification Ambassador of the Year in 2014. Ms. Williams also commits many hours to other leadership and volunteer positions with GAP, including NFPA Delegate and advisor to the Regulation Committee.

In the community, Ms. Williams speaks about and promotes certification and regulation, leads certification study groups, and participates in pro bono activities and community outreach. She also advises and meets with paralegal graduates regarding employment opportunities and improving interview skills and resumes, speaks to paralegal classes about the career, and is a mentor to paralegals of all levels
